The following would seem to harken a pandemic of people seeking chemical privacy via the use of cocaine... or other desensitizing drugs.

C.A.Khvoles and
others (1962) reported that the removal of olafactory bulbs or
painting of the nasal muscosa of a rabbit with a 10% cocaine
solution [SNORT!] stopped the EEG [electroencephlographic] reaction
to pulsed a low-freguency field (frequency 2-350 Hz; pulsed strength on
the order of 100 µv) Thus reference data testify to the participation
of the olafactory analyser in the reaction of the CNS to EMF [central
nervous system to electromagnetic fields.] Experiments involving the
influence of a UHF field began one day after surgery.
MICROWAVE RADIATION AND CHLORDIAZEPOXIDE: SYNERGISTIC EFFECTS ON FIXED INTERVAL BEHAVIOR SCIENCE, VOL. 203, page 1357; 30 MARCH 1979: Abstract. In the presence of low-intensity pulsed microwave radiation, at an average power density of 1 milliwatt per square centimeter, the response-rate-increasing effects of chlorepoxide [librium-valium series tranquilizers] were potentiated in rats. The behavorial effects of a drug can be modified by brief exposure to a low-level microwave field even when the radiation level alone has no apparent effects on the behavior.Environmental Biosciences Department, Naval Medical Research Institute; Librium contributed by Hoffman-LaRoche.
